SuperBella is Crazy Against Cancer

Bella is showing us all just how crazy against cancer she is!

Here at MaxLove Project, we know that our SuperKids are some of the very bravest and strongest SuperHeroes around!  Our SuperKid Bella is no different, and this month she is truly shining a bright light on not just her own bravery, but all of her fierce friends.

Bella Nordrum is an inspiration for children and adults everywhere. In 2011, she was diagnosed with brain cancer, called Pineoblastoma. Fast forward to five years later, after countless radiation sessions, infusions, and chemotherapy, Bella continues to thrive as a beautiful and courageous pre-teen.  Although Bella has faced daunting side effects of her cancer and treatment, she is showing us just what fierce bravery looks like.  Much of Bella’s vision has been impaired, but she is truly showing her cancer who is boss by recently learning to read and write in braille!

SuperBella is showing cancer just how strong she is, by learning how to use a mobility stick.

This SuperKid isn’t just an artist, an animal lover, and a comedian, but she also has a huge heart for her fellow SuperKids who are thriving against their own cancers.  Bella knows that in addition to all the treatments she’s received through her children’s hospital, community support, love, and whole body wellness, that MaxLove Project has been honored to share, has helped her thrive as the SuperKids she is.  Bella is crazy about making sure her fellow SuperKids receive the same resources she has benefitted from.  She’s crazy against cancer, and she wants everyone to know it! This is why, this March, Bella is showing the world just how crazy against cancer she is, by getting the ultimate crazy hair cut!

SuperBella has a big heart for MaxLove Project, and all her SuperFriends.  That’s why this SuperKid is committing to get the ultimate crazy hair cut this March 18th, at Foothill High School in Tustin, California.  Her goal is to raise $2,000 by March 18th, and to then get the Craziest Cut of all by shaving off her hair.

Bella has been brave throughout her cancer treatment, and now she's helping other kids feel brave as well!  By getting a crazy cut, Bella is helping to support whole body wellness resources for SuperKids!

When we asked Bella about going crazy against cancer, she was more than happy to share some of her wisdom.  Check out what she has to say!

What motivates you to get such a crazy cut?

When I started to think about shaving my head, I realized that it only took two years after chemo, for my hair to grow back to the original length.  So I wanted to shave my head to raise money for pediatric cancer and for my friends fighting cancer, my survivor friends, and my friends who earned their angel wings.

What do you hope people learn from you going crazy against cancer?

I want people to know that it’s okay for girls to be bald.   We aren’t used to seeing bald girls, but all that means is that bald girls are special and they RULE!!!  When my hair started falling out with my cancer treatment, I was super excited.   With all my hair that fell out, I made a hair hamster and a wheel out of pipe cleaners and a habitat out of a shoebox and hamster bedding.  I had so much fun.  I hope this helps everyone going through treatment (especially the girls!!)

Bella, you are an inspiration to us at MaxLove Project, and throughout our fierce community.  We're so proud of you and are honored that you stand with us against childhood cancers.  We love you!

Do you want to stand with Bella as she steps up to get the ultimate crazy hair cut?  Donate to her fundraising page and share why YOU are crazy against cancer too!
