The Therapeutics of Super Sleep

Our MaxLove Welcome Kit is a kickstarter welcome package for all families officially signed up for the MaxLove Project Super Families Support Network. The kit is designed to help families initiate Be Super Action Plan associated micro-actions connected to risk-reducing and quality of life changes such as healthy sleep, stress control, and nutrition. Each kit contains children’s sleep aids made by the company Cloud b, along with MLP introductory materials intended to lead parents to MLP resources and super sugar-free treats from our friends at Dr. John's.  In May 2015, MLP and Cloud b launched a new version of this program with a uniquely designed product called SuperMax the Turtle. The goal of the MaxLove Welcome Kit is to make small habit and lifestyle changes easier and empowering.

The kit is comprised of:

The Healing Turtle Story: MaxLove Project + Cloud b

It all began in late-August 2011 when SuperMax came home from over three weeks in the hospital after brain surgery. He was 4 1/2 years-old, immobile, and very afraid of the dark.  The four nightlights in his room proved insufficient to soothe his fears.  Max's mom immediately ran out to purchase a Cloud B Twilight Turtle, hoping that the soothing stars would do the trick.  Max now sleeps with it every night, along with a few more Cloud b buddies, and loves how he's able to turn on his “healing buddies” whenever he chooses.

The turtles (most brilliantly) come with three different colors of star projections.  Max immediately identified the green stars as his "healing" stars.  A part of his fighting/healing story includes the superpower color green.  Green food, drinks, and energy all help a SuperKid like Max really fight the bad guys. When Max saw those green "healing" stars he was thrilled to have another way to fight.

That first night when Max's mom brought home his first Twilight Turtle, Max held the turtle with the green stars projecting on his ceiling up to the back of his head and showed his mommy how he's able to help heal himself.  Max said, “look mommy! I’m healing!” This was such a remarkable display of empowerment, as well as the therapeutic aspects of positivity and stress relief, that Max's family decided to find a way to share these amazing toys with other SuperKids fighting cancer.

Max’s mom wrote an email to the Cloud b company requesting support to purchase the Twilight Turtle at a discounted rate to send to children fighting cancer across the nation. The company’s CEO promptly replied that Cloud b would be happy to donate product for this worthy cause. Almost three years later, MaxLove Project has partnered with Cloud b to donate and distribute approximately $250,000 worth of Twilight Turtles to SuperKids fighting cancer and related rare diseases around the world.

As of May 2015 our amazing friends at Cloud b are introducing Super Max the Turtle, a little hero on a big mission! The new Super Max the Turtle (featuring a sweet smile modeled on Max’s own) features the same glowing starlight projections of the original Twilight Turtle that first provided comfort to Max.  It eases fear of the dark as it projects blue, amber or green stars from its shell and kids can choose one color or set the Turtle to morph through all three colors.

Developed with input from health professionals at children's hospitals, Super Max the Turtle is a compact size to make it easy to take it anywhere and it’s entirely plastic to make it easy to keep clean and sterile if necessary. Just like the original, Super Max the Turtle has a 45-minute auto shut-off timer that ensures complete darkness during children’s deep sleep as recommended by pediatricians. An included booklet features the story of Max the Turtle – a regular turtle who becomes Super Max, a rainbow-caped super hero shining his light wherever he goes, healing those who need it most. Given its medicinal intentions, Super Max the Turtle will actually be available by prescription for children who need it. Proceeds from the sales of this magical product will be donated to Maxlove Project.
