Our Programs

MaxLove Project focuses on all the things families can do outside the hospital to achieve maximum quality of life for the patient and the whole family. We do this through tailored cooking classes; whole-family wellness resources and therapies; mental & emotional health programming; grief care; targeted peer social support; and professionally designed, facilitated, and researched health and wellness programs.

MaxLove Project offers culinary medicine cooking classes and nutrition support — what we call our Fierce Foods Academy — both online and in-person, in the community, hospital, and within our mobile app.

Our 7-Point BE SUPER Action Plan

Our BE SUPER Action Plan is centered on healing nutrition, sleep, physical activity, stress reduction, positive mindset, supportive community, and limiting exposure to harmful chemicals. Healing Stars with Super Max the Turtle

Super Max the Turtle was developed by the cloud b company for MaxLove Project with input from health professionals at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles to help sooth and support hospitalized kids. It's a compact size, making it easy to take anywhere, especially the hospital. It's also entirely made of plastic, making it easy to keep clean and sterile as necessary. Super Max the Turtle has a 45-minute auto shut-off timer that ensures complete darkness during children’s deep sleep as recommended by pediatricians. An included booklet features the story of Max the Turtle – a regular turtle who becomes Super Max, a rainbow-caped super hero shining his light wherever he goes, healing those who need it most. Super Max the Turtle is only available in the U.S. from MaxLove Project.

Parents Rising Emotional Health

Parents Rising is our signature emotional health program. At MaxLove Project, we believe that emotional health & emotional fitness are the key to healing from trauma, becoming more resilient to future trauma, and showing up for our children and loved ones with our best selves. Parents Rising is an online 4-week program for childhood cancer parents that’s guided by a psychologist-led team to engage with emotional health ideas and practices that will help parents rise out of trauma. Parents can learn more and sign up for an upcoming program in MaxLove Project Connect.

Turning Towards Grief Group

Turning Towards Grief is a guided support group for self-expression and support in the grieving process. Led by Veronica DeRosa, RN and peer navigator, Samantha Chacón, the group travels through e-learning content together and meets bi-weekly for 14 weeks. Each cohort then gathers in a retreat setting for a weekend of immersive holistic care. Families are encouraged to remain in support and connection in our Forever Parents support group.
